October 20th 2015

On 20th October Planning permission and Listed Building Consent was granted for the change of use and alterations to the previous Blackfriars Church at 17 – 21 Blackfriars Street, Edinburgh for use as cafĂ© / restaurant and residential apartments.

Scott Hobbs Planning were instructed by Stone Acre Projects to implement a planning strategy for the mixed use proposal in Edinburgh’s Old Town which has lain vacant for a number of years and registered as a Building at Risk by Historic Scotland.

The main planning issues for consideration were the refurbishment of the Listed Building to secure its long term preservation and impact on residential amenity. Stone Acre expects to begin works shortly; finally securing a use for this important building which has been vacant for close to 20 years.
