SHP (Scott Hobbs Planning) are delighted to announce that planning permission, listed building consent and conservation area consent have been granted, for a purpose-built student accommodation & community space development at 11-23 Montrose Terrace, Edinburgh. Although not a statutory requirement for local development, the proposals have been developed following extensive pre-application consultation with the public and City of Edinburgh Council. The Development Management Sub Committee agreed that the use was acceptable in principle in this location, with the site well served by sustainable transport methods; and determined that the development will not result in an excessive student concentration in the local area. The proposal is of an appropriate design, scale, form, massing, and density, and will not be detrimental to the character and historic interest of nearby listed buildings or their setting. The proposal enhances the character and appearance of the conservation area and will have a positive impact on the setting of the World Heritage Site.
