Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent was minded to grant by the City of Edinburgh Council’s Development Management Sub-Committee at their latest meeting, for our client Peter Schaufuss.
The plans for the transformation of the former Charlotte Chapel building found on Rose Street into a Centre for Dance and the Performing Arts, were submitted by Scott Hobbs Planning in November include a theatre, exhibition area, museum, ballet school, dance studio, and ancillary accommodation and internal refurbishment to facilitate this use.
The proposal by the acclaimed ballet dancer, director and choreographer will result in minimal changes to the B-Listed building, which will be retained in active use similar to that for which it was originally intended. There will be no adverse impact on any feature of historic or architectural importance. The proposal will preserve the character and appearance of the Listed Buildings and the New Town Conservation Area.
