Scott Hobbs Planning (SHP) has secured approval on appeal for 25 new apartments at 27 Lanark Road, Edinburgh, on behalf of Thistle Residential Ltd. The site consists of the vacant and boarded former Blue Goose Public House and is located opposite the Water of Leith visitor centre.
Working alongside ISA Architects, SHP provided advice throughout the process, submitting an application to City of Edinburgh Council in June 2018. Recommendation from officers to approve was overturned by Planning Committee in February. The DPEA agreed that despite the site’s location within the green belt, the development would “deliver a number of significant benefits” to justify approval and the provision of a commuted sum payment was justified, based on the evidence provided.
