Scott Hobbs Planning (SHP) has secured a resolution to grant planning permission for a new distillery at the Port of Leith, adjacent to Ocean Terminal, Edinburgh. The City of Edinburgh Council’s Development Management Sub-Committee have confirmed Minded to Grant consent, subject to the completion of a planning obligation related to developer contributions.
The planning application was submitted by Scott Hobbs Planning in September 2017, following pre-application consultation with CEC, for the nine storey distillery including a visitor experience / tasting area, a shop and a restaurant and bar. The proposal by Muckle Brig Limited will be the first purpose-built single malt distillery to be constructed in Edinburgh for over a century. It will provide a new visitor attraction to the waterfront that will complement the existing facilities within the area.
