Planning permission for part change of use, demolitions, alterations, and erection of hotel /aparthotel (Class 7).
Conservation Area Consent granted in February 2024, Listed Building Consent granted following HES objection and referral to Scottish Ministers in March 2024 and Planning Permission granted in June 2024 with S75 legal agreement.
Site constraints and opportunities include re-use and alterations of historic listed and un-listed buildings; tourism opportunities; heritage development; provision of active frontage; City Centre location; World Heritage Site; Conservation Area.
SHP was involved in a productive pre-application and planning/listed building/conservation area consent application process with The City of Edinburgh Council, providing strategic planning advice on application approach and planning policy framework. SHP worked closely with the project team in preparing the Planning Statement, reviewing the Design and Heritage Statements and other supporting documentation. Heritage discussions were handled sensitively and resulted in officer recommendations for approval, and approval at planning committee with no Scottish Government call-in.
