Short-term Let Visitor Accommodation, hotel accommodation and short-term let holidays lodges in the grounds of the existing Category A listed Drylaw House.
SHP has been engaged in obtaining permission for the original Drylaw House to be used as hotel accommodation and short term let. Following that, SHP was involved in a further tourism related proposal in the grounds of Drylaw House. Our role included pre-application enquiry with City of Edinburgh Council including a site visit with the planning officer, Historic Environment Scotland and City Archaeologist; submission and negotiation of a planning application to successful grant of permission following consideration by the Development Management Sub-Committee. SHP worked closely with project team, in preparing a Planning Statement, liaising with the team, on design evolution and advising on/contributing to other supporting documents and providing justification against the latest NPF4 requirements. Planning permission was granted in April 2024.
This proposal will provide a much needed tourist accommodation within the City and will regenerate the use of this privately owned open space through appropriate landscape provision.
