Section 42 Application for hotel development. The S42 application to vary conditions of planning permission 18/00528/S42 was submitted in July 2023 and was approved through Planning Committee in November 2023.
SHP was engaged in the pre-application enquiry and submission of a S42 application with EIA information to vary conditions on an earlier permission for the erection of a hotel and associated development on land adjacent to the Snowsports Centre, at Calderstones, Hillend. The proposal is for Planning Permission in Principle and promotes a landscape-led approach to the development to ensure the built form will integrate into the existing topography and landscaping at the site and the Pentlands Regional Park, will enhance biodiversity and will provide synergy with the new development at the Snowsports Centre. SHP worked closely with project team, in preparing a Planning Statement providing justification against latest NPF4 and liaising with Midlothian Council through Committee until consent. Unanimous approval at Planning Committee.
