SHP managed the pre-application process for a local scale redevelopment at 27 Arthur Street, Edinburgh, including submission of a pre-application enquiry and liaison with City of Edinburgh Council. Applications for planning permission and conservation area consent were then submitted in February 2021 for the demolition of existing buildings and structures and erection of 33 apartments, including on-site affordable housing, and associated development, with SHP leading the management of the applications including resolution of contentious issues, such as the demolition of the existing building.
The planning application received over 1,000 objections and despite this, both the conservation area consent and planning applications were reported to the Development Management Sub-Committee with a case officer recommendation for approval and were subsequently granted/minded to grant subject to a legal agreement regarding affordable housing provision
An associated application for the redevelopment of an adjacent garage for employment (Class 4) space over two floors was also granted planning permission in 2021, under delegated powers.
